Chief, Section of Geriatrics
Washington University School of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine seeks an accomplished academic geriatrician to lead and grow an innovative geriatrics program spanning clinical care, education (including a fellowship program), and research. The Section Chief will provide leadership for the Section of Geriatrics, developing an overarching mission and guiding the section’s growth across clinical care, education, research, and community partnerships as one of the largest academic medical centers in the country. The role offers the opportunity to directly influence the future of geriatric care delivery, build interdisciplinary care models, strengthen the academic geriatrics program, and advance the section's standing within the School of Medicine and affiliated health system. The role also comes with funding to recruit faculty across the clinical and research enterprise and research support for candidates with a research portfolio.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished academic geriatrician with a strong record of clinical leadership, scholarship, and mentorship. Candidates should hold an M.D. or D.O. degree and be board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with added qualification or board certification in Geriatric Medicine. The candidate should be eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Missouri. The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated commitment to advancing the clinical, educational, and scholarly missions of academic geriatrics. Experience in academic leadership, clinical operations, scholarship and research, and medical education is preferred.
