Faculty (Full Time) GI Hospitalist

WashU-GI is seeking a full-time Academic Gastroenterology Hospitalist to join our expanding inpatient gastroenterology service. This position is designed for clinicians with a strong interest in inpatient digestive diseases, clinical excellence, and medical education within a dynamic academic environment. The Gastroenterology Hospitalist will provide comprehensive inpatient consultative and procedural care for patients with a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal disorders. This role emphasizes high-quality, efficient, team-based care in collaboration with hospital medicine, surgery, oncology, and critical care services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient gastroenterology consultation services, including evaluation and management of acute GI conditions
  • Perform endoscopic procedures (e.g., EGD, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy) in an inpatient setting
  • Supervise and teach fellows, residents, and medical students on inpatient rotations
  • Contribute to quality improvement and clinical operations initiatives within the inpatient GI service
  • Optional participation in clinical research, medical education scholarship, or implementation science initiatives
  • Two week per month inpatient coverage; flexible schedule for remaining two weeks
  • Call coverage shared among GI faculty

All applicants must have completed fellowship training and be Board Certified, or Eligible. Must be eligible to obtain a permanent Missouri license.
