Pain Psychologist (Pain Medicine)
We have an excellent opportunity for a pain psychologist to join our interventional, multidisciplinary Pain Management Division, within the Department of Anesthesiology, Washington University, St. Louis. The mission of the Washington University Pain Center (https://pain.wustl.edu/) is to alleviate human suffering from pain through integration of research, education, and clinical practice. Our clinical work is spread across the St. Louis area including sites at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Missouri Baptist Medical Center, and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital.
The available position is for a Missouri state licensed pain
psychologist, with a working knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and treatment,
chronic pain conditions, and evidence-based interventions with communication
and interpersonal skills. This open rank position is available on the clinical
track. New faculty members receive an initial two-year clinical guarantee of
salary and bonus, to ensure adequate income while establishing a practice, but
there is also opportunity for productivity-based compensation.
• Provide individual, group psychotherapy and crisis intervention
for patients.
• Perform diagnostic interviews and assessments and prepare documentation of
results.
• Prepare progress notes and billing documentation in accordance with
department and professional guidelines.
• Provide consultation services to medical staff and faculty.
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
• Assist in the education and supervision of medical students, residents, and
fellows.
Missouri state licensure and a working knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, chronic pain conditions, and evidence-based interventions with communication and interpersonal skills.
