POD 5 Leadership Opportunity
WashU Medicine in St. Louis, Department of Anesthesiology (WUDA) is seeking applications for a Physician Leader for POD 5 operating room block, on the main Campus of Barnes-Jewish Hospital. As a WUDA representative and physician leader in this large and complex clinical area, the POD 5 leader will partner with BJH Perioperative Services (POS) and WUSM surgery colleagues to promote quality, safety, and efficiency of perioperative care. Besides leadership and communication skills, the POD 5 leader will require clinical expertise in a variety of areas, including neuroanesthesia, complex airway management, MRI safety, and robotic surgery.
The leader will support WUDA teams and have a critical role in enhancing professionalism and teamwork, learning and innovation, and ensuring that POD 5 is a safe and nurturing environment for patients and all member of the healthcare team.
This is an exciting clinical leadership opportunity with substantial prospects for future leadership growth. It earns a stipend and a WUDA commitment towards additional leadership development of successful POD leaders. POD leaders are members of the WUDA BJH clinical leadership team and work closely with and report to the Director of Clinical Anesthesiology at BJH.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence
Implement WUDA staffing model across the remote procedural areas
Ensure WUDA provides highly reliable, high quality, equitable and timely care in POD 5
Participate in BJH POS surgical service line meetings
Participate in strategic planning for POD 5 ORs with WUDA, WUSM surgical and BJH POS
Quality and Safety
Oversee clinical protocols for POD 5
Ensure WUDA meets Safety, Quality and Efficiency metrics in POD 5, as defined by WUSM and BJH
Work closely with WUDA PSQ team
Participate in POD 5 PSQ meetings and initiatives
Leadership
Attend Clinical Operations and POD Leader meetings
Collaborate the Anesthesia Support tech staff and leadership to improve patient care
Collaborate with Preop and PACU leadership to create and foster workflows
Qualifications:
Full time clinical faculty, including inhouse call, practicing primarily at BJH
ABA Board Certification in Anesthesiology
Recognized as an expert perioperative physician
Recognized for impeccable integrity, a role model for colleagues and trainees
Strong commitment to clinical excellence and culture of safety
Commitment to building a collaborative, respectful and inclusive, patient-centric culture
