#1011130 - Pediatric Palliative Care Physician
The Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) at Washington University School of Medicine (WashU)/St. Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH) seeks a Pediatric Palliative Care Physician, board certified or board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, to provide pediatric palliative care consultation at St. Louis Children's Hospital. The physician candidate will participate in interdisciplinary consultation services, facilitate discussion and clarification of goals of care, assess and manage pain and other distressing symptoms, and will collaborate with the primary medical team and community agencies throughout a child's disease trajectory. Additionally, they will participate in the team’s educational efforts with trainees and medical staff and will assist in research, quality improvement, and advocacy efforts for children with complex chronic and/or life-threatening conditions. This position will also provide on-call coverage for SLCH inpatient units and patients receiving BJC WINGS pediatric hospice or home palliative care services.
PACT is a sought-after clinical experience for all levels of learners, including WashU medical students, pediatric residents, pediatric subspecialty fellows, and Nurse Practitioner students. We are proud of our ACGME-accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship training program and commit to training one pediatric palliative care fellow annually. Our interdisciplinary team is composed of physicians, nurse practitioners, and social workers. We have a continuity-based clinical model that offers the full scope of palliative care services, including symptom management, medical decision-making guidance, family support, and home palliative care and hospice. Extensive opportunities exist for mentorship and collaborations in education, research, and quality improvement with faculty and staff within the Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, and the larger WashU community.

- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy
- Board certified or eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
- Experience working with medically complex conditions, including direct provision of end-of-life care.
- Experience caring for children in diverse locations of care including acute and/or long-term care facilities, outpatient clinics and home.
- Experience working within an interdisciplinary team
Successful faculty candidates will be passionate about pediatric palliative care and working within an interdisciplinary team. The candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, expertise in pain and symptom management, and should be comfortable providing end-of-life care for patients with complex medical conditions.
