Hospitalist – Division of Academic Specialists of Obstetrics & Gynecology
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, a nationally recognized medical school, is seeking a Hospitalist in the clinician educator track for the Division of Academic Specialists of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ASOG). The Obstetrics & Gynecology Department at Washington University is top-ranked with extensive clinical and basic science research. With advanced training in the full range of general obstetric and gynecologic conditions, our faculty offer superior level of expertise, delivering innovative treatments and personalized care plans to our patients.
Reporting to the Chief of the Division of ASOG, the Hospitalist will provide inpatient gynecology and obstetrics care at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. The hospitalist will supervise the gynecology inpatient, consult and transfer service and will take care of gynecologic surgical emergencies. The hospitalist will also provide inpatient obstetric care and perform deliveries. The hospitalist will supervise, teach and evaluate our top-notch residents and medical students. Faculty joining the growing hospitalist service will join nine ASOG faculty and three nurse practitioners in addition to the entire faculty of OBGYN including subspecialist support in every area. A successful candidate will have a track record of outstanding patient care and a strong commitment to resident and medical student education. Essential skills include excellent communication and experience navigating busy and complex healthcare systems.
The practice cares for a large volume of both obstetric and gynecologic patients and provides a majority of the oversight for the residency-training continuity clinics. Outpatient services are provided on the main campus as well as other clinical locations in the Midwest. Inpatient services are provided on the main campus of Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Parkview Tower. Parkview Tower is a new facility constructed in 2018. Located adjacent to the NICU at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, this unit provides state-of-the-art services to our patients. There are 18 L&D rooms, 3 ORs (including one for our Fetal Care Program), 18 antepartum rooms, and 36 postpartum rooms. The gynecologic ORs are state of the art and there is an OBGYN designated assessment center within Parkview Tower.
Qualified candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology with an MD, DO, MD/PhD or equivalent degree
