Faculty Position - Division of Urogynecology
The Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Division in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a fellowship-trained academic urogynecologist for a full-time, open rank position. Reporting to the Chief of the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, the successful candidate will have a track record of outstanding patient care, collaborative leadership skills and individual scholarship. This position will be clinically active and play a key role in our expansion efforts, offering opportunities for educational and scholarly contributions. The individual will join a team of three experienced faculty members and one nurse practitioner. The Division also has the privilege of training a full complement of three fellows in an ACGME accredited Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery fellowship in excellent standing. Scholarly activity is a strength of the Division as well with multiple abstracts presented at national meetings and published manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals annually. Mentorship and collaboration are valued in the Division to excel and pursuit life-long learning as a team.
This Division offers the breadth and depth of urogynecologic care with outpatient procedures, such as complex urodynamic studies, intradetrusor and pelvic floor botulinum toxin injections, cystoscopy, percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation, and other procedures. Surgically, the Division performs over 600 urogynecologic surgeries each year and collaborates with the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, Gynecologic Oncology, and Academic Specialists Divisions as well as outside of the department with the Colorectal and Urology teams.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University includes 72 faculty members representing 10 Divisions and 6 fellowships and is listed #7 in NIH funding. This Departmental team contributed to over 180 publications and has 83 active grants/contracts/awards. Our learners include 20 fellows and 36 residents with a residency program ranked in the top 10 in the nation.
Clinical and surgical skills will be demonstrated across inpatient, outpatient, and operative settings. A diverse range of surgical techniques, including endoscopic and vaginal approaches, is essential, with a strong preference for robotic surgical expertise. Comprehensive knowledge and experience and a demonstrated history of clinical excellence in the full spectrum of urogynecology care and practice are required. A strong record of teaching excellence is highly valued, as this role will be involved in training our medical students, residents, and fellow physicians. An interest in promoting research within our Division is also advantageous to our team.
Qualified candidates will have completed residency in an ACGME accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology training program and subspecialty training in an accredited Urogynecology fellowship program, with board certification/eligibility in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Urogynecology and Reconstructive Surgery. The successful candidate should be at the rank of Assistant Professor or above and should be an innovative leader with knowledge and experience in navigating complex academic medical institutions, health centers, and/or teaching hospitals coupled with administrative experience.
Interested candidates should include their letter of interest and curriculum vitae.
