Faculty Position - Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, a nationally recognized medical school ranked #2 in NIH funding, seeks a full time faculty member for the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery of Obstetrics & Gynecology. The Obstetrics & Gynecology Department at Washington University is top-ranked with extensive clinical and basic science research. With advanced training in the full range of general obstetric and gynecologic conditions, our faculty offers a superior level of expertise, delivering innovative treatments and personalized care plans to our patients.
The selected applicant will join an academic practice of three faculty and one fellow. Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery faculty are engaged in in-patient care, clinical research, and medical student, resident, and fellow education. We are in the foundation year of our Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery fellowship program.
Clinical responsibilities include care for gynecology patients in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Currently, the division performs over 1,000 procedures per year. In 2018, a brand new state-of-the-art operating facility opened in coordination with the new academic and clinical office space. Surgeries are performed at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, a level I trauma center and academic teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds, and Missouri Baptist Medical Center, a 489-bed community-based hospital, both are Magnet-designated hospitals and members of the BJC HealthCare system.
Qualified candidates will be at the Associate Professor level or above in the clinician-educator track and have a track record of outstanding patient care, collaborative leadership, program growth/development, educational excellence, and faculty recruitment. A background in individual scholarship is preferred, but not required.
Preferred candidates must have a strong commitment to teach medical students, residents and fellows. The candidate must be able to provide care to patients with complex surgical pathology and be a resource for the department and community gynecologic surgeons. Strong interpersonal skills and interest in surgical research is also essential.
Qualified candidates must hold board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology with an MD, DO, MD/PhD or equivalent degree as well as have completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. Applicants must hold or be qualified to obtain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Missouri and be eligible for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or above.
