This key leadership role requires an academic physician leader with strong clinical, business, and marketing acumen.
Duties include leading and managing the administrative, financial, research and clinical operations for the Division. Responsibilities also include development of the Division’s faculty with emphasis on quality, compassionate patient care and innovative research. The Division of Gynecologic Oncology comprises 10 faculty and four fellows and performs over 1,500 surgical procedures per year with 1,300 chemotherapy admissions. In addition to faculty, our care team includes oncology nurses, nurse practitioners, and a board-certified genetic counselor. A new state-of-the-art operating facility opened with new academic and clinical office space in 2018. Our surgeons operate at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, a 1,200-bed level I trauma center and academic teaching hospital, and Missouri Baptist Medical Center, a 489-bed community-based hospital. Both are Magnet-designated hospitals and members of the BJC HealthCare system.
Qualified candidates must hold board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology with an MD, DO, MD/PhD or equivalent degree and be board certified in Gynecologic Oncology. Applicants must hold or be qualified to obtain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Missouri and be eligible for appointment as Associate Professor or above.
Applicants should be adept at caring for patients with complex gynecologic malignancies and serve as a resource for the department and community physicians. Strong interpersonal skills and an interest in cancer/surgical research are desirable. The successful candidate will be an innovative leader with experience navigating complex academic institutions, health centers, and/or teaching hospitals, clinical program expansion, and administrative experience.
We seek candidates with a track record of outstanding patient care, collaborative leadership, program growth, educational excellence, and faculty recruitment. A background in individual scholarship is preferred but not required. Qualified candidates will be cognizant of national trends and best practices in the specialty and have demonstrated a solid commitment to medical education and dedication to promoting scholarship and research opportunities for students, residents, fellows, and faculty. The ability to recruit, develop, mentor, and manage academic faculty and staff across the clinical, research, and education missions is essential.
