Chief, Division of Nutritional Science and Obesity Medicine
The Department of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine invites applications and nominations for the position of Division Chief of Nutritional Science and Obesity Medicine. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Medicine, the Chief will oversee all research, clinical, administrative, and financial functions including research operations, clinical operations, educational programs, faculty recruitment, faculty development, new program growth and support of scholarship and research in the Division.
The Division of Nutritional Science and Obesity Medicine, Department of Medicine, Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine performs cutting-edge basic and clinical research and trains future leaders in the fields of nutritional science and obesity medicine. The Division strives to improve human health and aging through our Center for Human Nutrition, longevity research and clinical studies that evaluate approaches to diet, nutrition, and disease prevention. The Division is also home to the Center for Human Nutrition, which focuses on obesity and nutrition research at the School of Medicine.
The successful candidate will be a visionary and strategic academic leader with a record of leadership, research, clinical and teaching experience. We are seeking a diverse pool of applicants with prior research, clinical, administrative, and leadership experience, strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, and demonstrated ability to effectively inspire, manage, mentor, and develop faculty and staff.
Qualified candidates should hold an MD, MD/PhD, PhD, DO or equivalent degree and should be at or above the Associate Professor rank. MD and MD/PhD candidates should hold ABIM certification in Internal Medicine or the equivalent training and certification.
• Experience developing a vision and providing strategic direction with a strong record of research, clinical care, teaching, and scholarship.
• Established, ongoing, and independent research portfolio.
• Prior experience with program growth/expansion.
• Adept at supporting trainees and faculty in scholarship, research, teaching, and clinical activities.
• Skills and experience working collaboratively with diverse groups of faculty and staff.
• Demonstrated administrative skills including proactive communication and strategic/operational planning.
• Leadership style that supports collegiality, collaboration, and respect for diverse views.
• High level of personal integrity and professionalism in all interactions.
• Confidence in decision-making and capacity to identify, manage, and confront challenges.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
