Division Chief - Obstetrics & Gynecology - Division of Complex Family Planning

Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, a nationally recognized medical school, is seeking a Division Chief at the Associate Professor level or above in the clinician educator track for the Division of Complex Family Planning.  The Obstetrics & Gynecology Department at Washington University is top ranked with extensive clinical and basic science research.  With advanced training in the full range of Complex Family Planning conditions, our faculty offer superior level of expertise, delivering innovative treatments and personalized care plans to our patients.

 

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Chief will have overall responsibility for the strategic planning, program development, growth and expansion of clinical operations and outreach in line with the department’s mission, vision and values.  This key leadership role requires an academic physician leader with strong clinical and business and marketing acumen. The successful candidate will have a track record of outstanding patient care, collaborative leadership skills, individual scholarship, program growth/development, educational excellence, and faculty recruitment. They will be well-informed on national trends and best practices in Complex Family Planning and have demonstrated a strong commitment to medical education and dedication to promoting scholarship and research opportunities for students, residents, fellows, and faculty members. The ability to recruit, develop, mentor and manage academic faculty and staff across the clinical, research, and education missions is essential.

 

The qualified candidate will join a team comprised of two full-time faculty, two fellows, and a nurse practitioner. Complex Family Planning faculty are active in patient care, clinical research, and medical student, resident, and fellow education. We have a well-established Complex Family Planning Fellowship. 

 

Clinical responsibilities include covering the inpatient hospital-based family planning service, seeing patients at our Title X family planning clinic, and providing services at local independent clinics. Willingness to travel to provide care at underserved clinics in the Midwest is preferred. Other clinical responsibilities include coverage of resident OB/GYN clinic, outpatient gynecology clinics, gynecologic surgery, and the inpatient benign gynecology service. Clinical responsibilities do not include obstetrics. Candidates are expected to be actively involved in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Clinical research opportunities are available. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.

Qualified candidates must hold board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Complex Family Planning with an MD, DO, MD/PhD or equivalent degree and should be at the rank Associate Professor or above.  Applicants must have completed fellowship training in Complex Family Planning.  The successful candidate will be an innovative leader with knowledge and experience in navigating complex academic institutions, health centers, and/or teaching hospitals coupled with administrative experience.
