Vice Chief, Clinical Operations

  • Create a vision for the clinical practice of the Division of General Internal Medicine
  • Participate in the creation of a strategic plan for the Division of General Internal Medicine, specifically leading planning around clinical enterprises
  • Provide centralized leadership to oversee all division clinical needs
    • Ensure alignment across educational and direct care clinical needs of division
    • Optimize workflows and create standardization of goals and expectations of clinical FTE and support staff at multiple clinical sites
    • Develop and support quality, satisfaction and safety metrics to ensure excellence in clinical care
    • Partner with department operational leadership regarding current and anticipated clinical space allocation, staff support/administration, development of new/innovative clinical programs, etc.
    • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with BJC, WUCA, and FPP by serving as point of contact for direct clinical care operations of division
  • Collaborate with Division Chief and Business Director on creation, implementation, and execution of clinical strategic goals
  • Troubleshoot clinical conflicts/problems with clinical administration
  • Collaborate with Division Chief and Business Director in financial oversight of clinical operations
  • Direct clinical faculty and staff recruitment; partner with other leadership (UME, GME) to determine and meet mutual needs to guide faculty recruitment
  • Manage and analyze productivity, access, and revenue data to optimize performance
  • Establish, monitor, and evaluate key performance indicators/metrics for clinical faculty and staff; establish remediation plans as needed
  • Actively engage with other members of the division and department leadership team; exude a leadership style that emphasizes teamwork, communication, accountability, and trust
  • Complete faculty annual reviews as assigned and contribute to promotion as needed with a focus on faculty with significant clinical load

Qualified candidates must hold certification in Internal Medicine or the equivalent training and certification with an MD, MD/PhD, DO or equivalent degree and should be at or above the Associate Professor rank. We are seeking candidates with operational/administrative leadership experience in a large, complex academic medicine center or integrated health system.
