The Division of Neuropathology within the Department of Pathology and Immunology (http://pathology.wustl.edu/) at the Washington University School of Medicine (http://medicine.wustl.edu) is seeking a neuropathologist to join the Translational Human Neurodegenerative Disease Research (THuNDR) Laboratory. Additional training in neurodegenerative neuroscience research is desirable. The THuNDR Laboratory serves as the Neuropathology Core for multiple local and international NIH-funded research projects, including those of the Charles F. and Joanne Knight Alzheimer Disease Research Center, the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network, the Alzheimer Disease Neuroimaging Initiative, and the Washington University Movement Disorders Center.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and demonstrate experience with and competence in independently managing scientific research projects and complex neuropathology autopsy cases. History of academic productivity in the area of neuropathology is desired.
In this non-tenure, Research Track, Assistant Professor position, primary responsibilities will include processing and evaluation of neurodegenerative autopsy specimens, biorepository curation, management of laboratory personnel, review of biospecimen requests, support of collaborative research projects, grant writing, and interface with supported research projects. The candidate is expected to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as interest in education of medical students and post-graduate trainees, residents, fellows, visiting scholars, research fellows and post-docs. This research position does not include clinical neurosurgical case signout opportunities, independent laboratory space, or a ‘start-up’ package. Candidate must be able to start in Spring 2023.
