Anesthesiologist in the Division of Perioperative Medicine
The Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Anesthesiologist specializing in perioperative medicine to join the Division of Perioperative Medicine. The Perioperative Medicine Division brings together compassionate clinicians, cutting-edge technology, education, and research to improve perioperative care. The division aims to lead the department in enhancing outcomes of patients undergoing surgery by continually improving procedural preparation and recovery processes. This is achieved through education, innovative research, novel technological applications, and quality improvement initiatives. The core clinical roles in the division of perioperative medicine are staffing the preoperative clinic (the Center for Preoperative Assessment and Planning at Barnes Jewish Hospital, Barnes Jewish West County Hospital, and the Center for Advanced Medicine at South County), as well as the Anesthesiology telemedicine center, which houses the department's remote operating room (Anesthesiology Control Tower) and recovery area (ePACU) programs. In addition,an individual in this role will work in other clinical areas of the Anesthesiology department, depending on clinical expertise, fellowship training, and interest.
The Division of Perioperative Medicine critically supports a shared academic mission with the Department of Anesthesiology by providing clinical, educational, and research training to medical students, Anesthesiology residents, and fellows. The ideal candidate has perioperative or other pertinent fellowship training, a passion for improving the quality of patient care, and works well on a diverse team.
The parent Department of Anesthesiology has 175 faculty members and is a national and international leader in diverse research areas. There are many faculty development opportunities in education, research, patient safety, and administration.
