Clinician-Track Educator in the Program in Occupational Therapy

The Program in Occupational Therapy at Washington University in St. Louis' School of Medicine seeks an occupational therapist for a faculty position on the clinician-educator track. The position reports to the Director, Division of Professional Education. 

Time Allocations:

70% Teaching Responsibilities, including preparation, in-class instruction, grading, advising, mentoring and office hours

20% Scholarly Activity, including publications and presentations

10% Service to the Program and University on committees and special projects as requested.

Functions:

  • Serve as a generalist educator, teaching a wide variety of courses within the Master's and Clinical Doctoral curricula with emphasis in older adult/ adult neuro-rehabilitation. Teaching activities must be guided by the University Mission, Program Mission, Curriculum Model and ACOTE standards.

  • Join a Program that is embedded in a research medical center and is committed to community engagement throughout the greater St. Louis region. 

  • Eligible for or holds occupational therapy licensure in the state of Missouri.
  • Doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time (or equivalent) experience teaching in higher education required, including associated teaching competencies and ability to relate to student learning needs. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in occupational therapy practice. Clinical expertise in adult/older adult neurorehabilitation required.
  • Serve on Program, University or Community Consumer-Oriented committees.

  • An established line of scholarly research as demonstrated by juried publications and presentations
  • The ability to mentor students through directed clinical/community research or program development projects consistent with a line of scholarly work.
  • Experience delivering curriculum through contemporary instructional technologies, which includes the virtual classroom.
  • Experience using learning management systems to support teaching role.
  • Active involvement and/or leadership in local, state, or national professional organizations.
