MRI Oncologic Imaging Faculty
The Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, one of the top Radiology departments in the world, is seeking a full-time faculty member in MR oncologic imaging on the investigator (tenure) track. MIR is a preeminent research institute, with excellence in magnetic resonance imaging, optical imaging, neuroimaging, PET tracer development and translation, and imaging informatics/big data.
The faculty candidate is expected to develop innovative MR imaging approaches and collaborate with other investigators at MIR and the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center to address oncologic imaging challenges.
MIR supports world-class research imaging facilities, including magnetic resonance, nuclear, molecular, and optical imaging resources and cyclotrons for preclinical and translational research. Human MR research facilities include four Siemens Prisma 3T, a Siemens Vida 3T, a Siemens Biograph mMR PET/MR, and two PET/CT (Vision and Biograph 40). The MIR small-animal imaging facilities house 9.4 T, 4.7 T, and 11.74 T MR scanners, PET/CT and simultaneous PET/MR scanners and a GE SPINlab hyperpolarization unit. Beyond MIR, the candidate will also have access to the resources of the Siteman Cancer Center, an NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center, member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, and international leader in cancer treatment, research, prevention, education, and community outreach. MIR radiologists serve 9 hospitals including the nationally ranked Barnes Jewish and St. Louis Children's Hospitals. There is a great opportunity to translate MRI science to practice.
Qualifications for the position include:
• PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree with an emphasis in the physical sciences and engineering of MR
• Experience and skill in the development and application of MR methods in preclinical or clinical oncologic imaging within a multi-disciplinary environment
• Demonstrated success in obtaining extramural funding
• Demonstrated success mentoring graduate students and post-doctoral fellows
• Outstanding communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
