Senior Research Methodologist

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri is looking to recruit an experienced research methodologist to serve as an Instructor or Assistant Professor to support and grow the Department’s research initiatives. In addition to pursing independent research, the methodologist will collaborate with investigators to design and implement emergency care research. The methodologist will provide oversight for study design, data management and data analysis of various projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with investigators, biostatisticians and informaticians to design and develop objectives and statistical analysis plans to achieve study objectives
  • Perform and oversee statistical analysis, overall descriptive statistics, exploratory data analyses, including graphs, schematic summaries, and necessary transformations and confirmatory data analyses, including statistical tests and/or modeling
  • Collaborate with data managers and investigators to align statistical analysis plan with data collection procedures and forms
  • Perform sample size and power calculations, generates randomization schema, and prepares statistical sections for research protocols and manuscripts
  • Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with investigators and team that require statistical input
  • Design tables and statistical procedures for specific research studies
  • Assist with writing statistical design, methods, and analysis for manuscripts and research proposals
  • Analyze data and prepare tables for interim and final reports
  • Prepare written reports of statistical analyses
  • Apply new statistical methodologies
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with security policies governed by HIPAA and the WUSM IRB

  • PhD in biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field. 
  • Five years related experience. 

  • Proficiency with multiple statistical programs e.g., R, STADA, SAS, SPSS.
  • Informatics and experience with managing and analyzing large datasets preferred.
