Endovascular Neurologist
The Department of Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine, is seeking an Endovascular Neurologist for a position at the Assistant Professor level in the Cerebrovascular Disease Section. Washington University Physicians collaborate closely with the BJC Healthcare System, which consists of 13 hospitals in the St. Louis area, including its flagship hospital, Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH). BJH is a Joint-Commission certified Comprehensive Stroke Center—one of only two in the area. The endovascular neurologist will be primarily responsible for endovascular surgical procedures at Barnes-Jewish St. Peter’s Hospital (BJSPH), which is developing a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center. In addition, the endovascular neurologist will rotate at BJH to permit the performance of complex elective endovascular procedures and to carry out other academic pursuits (research, education, administration). Call coverage at BJSPH will be shared with four other neuroendovascular surgeons at BJH.
The Stroke & Cerebrovascular Center at Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital—with four neuroendovascular surgeons, nine vascular neurologist, eight neurointensivists, five vascular neurosurgeons, and three emergency medicine physicians subspecialty trained in neurovascular emergencies—is a highly collaborative cross-disciplinary team. The Stroke & Cerebrovascular Center is one of the highest volume centers in the country, supporting four clinical stroke fellows and one stroke research fellow. Moreover, the Neurology Department at Washington University has an extensive research infrastructure, evidenced by its clinical and translational research productivity as well as its success in faculty development. The Department employs over 140 faculty and offers neurological care in all subspecialties. In addition to BJH and BJSPH, affiliated hospitals include St. Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH), the Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis, among many others.
