The Department of Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time, non-clinical faculty member with laboratory research program in lysosomal and autophagy disorders and Batten disease at the rank of Instructor on the Research series in the Division of Genetics and Genomic Medicine.
The Division of Medical Genetics and Genomics is rapidly expanding. Our team includes eight medical geneticists, eight genetic counselors, three metabolic dieticians, and four pediatric nurse practitioners serving patients at one of the nation’s top-ranked children’s hospitals. Washington University is a leader in genomic sequencing, diagnosis and management of rare inherited conditions, and gene discovery. Washington University has ABMGG approved fellowship programs in clinical and medical biochemical genetics as well as laboratory genetics and genomics, and a training program in genetic counseling is in development. Our division also serves as a newborn screening center for both Missouri and Illinois, which includes lysosomal storage conditions in both states. We are a clinical site and model organism screening center (MOSC) in the NIH’s Undiagnosed Diseases Network. There are tremendous opportunities for personal and professional growth offered by a wide array of educational conferences, research opportunities, and collaborative clinical work.
The candidate must have a Ph.D. and research experience in lysosomal disorders, autophagy, and Batten disease (neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis).
