Research Associate Professor of Surgery
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is seeking a Research Associate Professor of Surgery (level will be based on experience) to lead the Cardiac Surgical Research Laboratories. The position has two primary missions. First, the laboratory investigates the clinical and scientific problems that are specific to adult cardiac surgery. Second, we are committed to training future cardiothoracic surgeons in basic science and research methodology, and have one of only two NIH T32 grants to train future physician-scientists in our specialty.
The applicant must have earned a doctorate in Biomedical Engineering, electrophysiology, cardiac physiology, or a closely related field; have experience in small/large animal research, human tissue mapping and imaging CT/MRI etc. The ideal candidate would have a distinguished record in research and scholarship that will allow appointment to a senior position; and demonstrated collaborative leadership, administrative, and interpersonal skills. The applicant should have a demonstrable commitment to a culturally diverse environment and recognition and service at the national and international level.Candidates should preferably be a US citizen or permanent resident.
