Chief of the Division of Clinical Research

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis seeks dynamic, productive, and collaborative candidates for the position of Chief of the Division of Clinical Research (DCR). The successful candidate will join a department that, in 2018, was ranked #2 in NIH funding among Obstetrics and Gynecology departments in US medical schools.  The goal of the DCR is to improve all aspects of reproductive health, with special focus on the following clinical areas:  Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Family Planning, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Gynecologic Oncology, and Urogynecology. Additionally, the DCR works with world-class basic and translational investigators to conduct bench-to-bedside research. The DCR supports the research of faculty, fellows, and residents by assisting with project design, IRB submission, database development and management, patient recruitment and follow-up, specimen collection, and statistical analyses.

The DCR Chief will lead the continued growth of our department's clinical research portfolio, including cross-divisional and transdisciplinary research, technology and methodology development, and clinical outcomes research relevant to improving women’s health. The DCR is composed of approximately 40 staff members, including research nurse coordinators, sonographers, clinical study assistants, and data analysts.  In addition to administrative responsibilities, the DCR Chief will contribute to the research and educational missions of the department. If desired, the DCR Chief can share in the clinical responsibilities of one or more of the clinical divisions.

The successful candidate will be appointed at an academic rank appropriate to years of experience and academic productivity. Candidates should have excellent communication and leadership skills. Additionally, the DCR Chief is expected to have a proven track record of extramural support and an independent research program, ideally one that expands the DCR’s current research programs.

To apply, please include a CV, cover letter, and research statement (upload under Specific Request 1). In addition, include the names and contact information for at least three references. (References from finalists will be contacted with applicant permission.) A competitive salary and benefits package are offered, and opportunities for faculty development are available and encouraged. Applications submitted by September 1, 2019 will be given full consideration.
