CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI (USA).  The Department of Pathology & Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine is now seeking a third pathologist to join our rapidly growing community-based practice within Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.  The successful candidate will provide expertise in general surgical pathology and cytopathology as well as possible medical directorship for an increasing number of the clinical laboratories affiliated with the SoutheastHEALTH system serving the southeastern corner of the state.

The case mix is diverse and challenging with a projected 10,000 surgical and non-GYN cytology specimens annually.   This involves on-site adequacy evaluation and frozen sections in support for an active cardiothoracic surgery service that is also provided by Washington University physicians.  The main laboratory at Southeast Missouri Hospital has a fully automated instrument line and performs over 3 million tests per year, including chemistry, hematology, and microbiology.  The blood bank also issued over 4600 units last year.

While based in Cape Girardeau, the professional component is fully supported by and integrated within the operation of the Department of Pathology and Immunology.  A broad range of subspecialty support is available via telepathology and by daily courier.  Gross evaluation is handled by an extremely conscientious PA with many years of experience.

Individuals completing their fellowship training, as well as those with private practice experience, are encouraged to apply.  Board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology, in addition to licensure in the state of Missouri, is required.  Salary is based on background and experience.  Interested candidates should forward their curriculum vitae and three references to:
