Clinician-track Educator and Occupational Therapy Practitioner
This position is shared between the education and practice divisions within the Program in Occupational Therapy. The position serves as a generalist educator, teaching a wide variety of courses within the entry level Master’s and Clinical Doctoral curricula with an emphasis on Human anatomy. Clinically, the position performs evaluations and delivers comprehensive clinical services for adults referred to Occupational Therapy primarily in the areas of oncology/rheumatology. This position reports to the Director, Division of Professional Education and to the Manager of Clinical Practice
Time Allocations:
- 35% Teaching Responsibilities, including preparation, in-class instruction, grading, advising, mentoring, and office hours.
- 10% Scholarly Activity, including publications and presentations.
- 5% Service to Program and University on committees and special projects as requested.
- 40% Clinical responsibilities including delivery of evidence based occupational therapy evaluation and treatment services. Includes documentation and related billing activities. Plans for 5-10 clinical visits per day.
- 8% Clinical program development in the areas of oncology/rheumatology
- 2% Clinical quality and performance improvement activities as needed

- Contribute to the national visibility of our Program through your scholarly and voluntary contributions to the profession.
- Delivers direct care services to adults referred to Occupational Therapy, completes all aspects of clinical documentation including billing and other assigned documentation. Confers with physicians, team members, family members and others as needed to deliver effective, quality care
- Works in collaboration with clinical team members to develop innovative programs including measures and interprofessional practices aimed at targeted populations
- Participates in performance / quality improvement initiatives as assigned
- Eligible for or holds occupational therapy licensure in the state of Missouri.
- Doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience teaching in higher education required, including associated teaching competencies and ability to relate to student learning needs.
- Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in occupational therapy practice. Clinical expertise in adult/older adult rehabilitation required.
- Developing scholarly research as demonstrated by juried publications and presentations
- Experience delivering curriculum through contemporary instructional technologies, which includes the virtual classroom.
- Experience using learning management systems to support teaching role.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: This position requires a degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as an occupational therapist in the State of Missouri.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Doctoral or Post Professional Doctoral degree with 2-3 years of clinical experience preferred.
