Pediatric Pain & Regional Anesthesiologist
The Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Pediatric Pain & Regional Physician to join the Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. This is an outstanding opportunity to become part of a nationally recognized academic medical center dedicated to providing exceptional, family-centered care to infants, children, and adolescents across the full spectrum of perioperative and pain management.
The successful candidate will have a diverse clinical practice that includes inpatient acute pain management, outpatient chronic pain medicine, and pediatric operating room anesthesia. Clinical responsibilities include the evaluation and management of children with postoperative and medically complex pain, chronic and complex pediatric pain conditions, and the provision of anesthetic care for a broad range of pediatric surgical procedures. The position offers opportunities to perform regional anesthesia and interventional pain procedures consistent with the candidate's training and expertise.
You will work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that includes pediatric anesthesiologists, pain physicians, surgeons, pediatric subspecialists, psychologists, rehabilitation specialists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care for children with acute, chronic, cancer-related, and complex pain conditions.
The Division provides clinical care at the nationally ranked St. Louis Children's Hospital, Shriners Children's St. Louis, and Children's Specialty Care Centers in West and South Counties. Together, our pediatric anesthesiology team includes 34 pediatric anesthesiologists, 28 CRNAs, pediatric anesthesiology fellows, 4 nurse practitioners, and 5 administrators, performing approximately 30,000 anesthetics annually across our clinical sites.
As part of Washington University School of Medicine, the Division shares the Department of Anesthesiology's academic mission by providing outstanding clinical care while educating and mentoring medical students, anesthesiology residents, and pediatric anesthesiology fellows. Faculty are encouraged to participate in clinical and translational research, quality improvement initiatives, and program development. The Department is deeply committed to supporting faculty growth, leadership development, and career advancement at every stage.
The ideal candidate is board-certified in Pediatric Anesthesiology, has successfully completed a Pediatric Anesthesiology fellowship, and also has formal training in Pediatric Pain Medicine or Pediatric Regional Anesthesia, through fellowship or equivalent advanced clinical training and experience.
