CARDIOLOGY: Faculty – Clinical. Inaugural Cardiology Co-Director of the cardiac MRI and CT Advanced Imaging Program
The Division of Cardiology and the Department of Radiology have recently initiated a joint comprehensive Cardiology/Cardiovascular Radiology Program for Cardiac MRI/CT advanced imaging. This program represents a mutual long-term, sustained commitment to provide an outstanding unified advanced cardiac imaging service jointly delivered by both departments. The program will be led by two Co-Directors (one from Radiology and one from Cardiology) with appointments for 5-year renewable terms guided by annual evaluations. The program will be overseen by a Steering Committee consisting of senior representatives from the Departments of Medicine/Cardiology and Radiology.
The Division is seeking a mid-career or senior cardiologist, at the late Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor level, to serve as the Inaugural Cardiology Co-Director of this joint Advanced Cardiac Imaging Program. The Washington University is a high-volume center of clinical cardiology encompassing the full spectrum of general and subspecialty cardiology, with a robust ambulatory and consultative practice.
Advanced cardiac imaging comprises an essential part of our strategic plan for the growth of our inpatient and outpatient cardiology clinical programs. The Cardiology Co-Director of Advanced Cardiac Imaging will evidence an overall commitment to establishing and growing both inpatient and outpatient advanced cardiac imaging programs, working collaboratively with his/her Radiology counterpart. Programmatic management and supervision of inpatient and outpatient advanced cardiac imaging will be under the responsibility and direction of the Co-Directors. The service will be responsible for operation, performance and interpretation of all MRI and CT scans pertaining to the heart, pericardium, and coronary vasculature, and the supervision of ancillary staff and technologists performing the imaging.
This new position will comprise an integral role within the Division and the candidate will be responsible for oversight and advocacy for advanced cardiac imaging faculty within the program. Candidates working across the spectrum of cardiac imaging are welcome to apply. The candidate will work closely with the leadership of the Cardiovascular Division and Radiology Department to grow and steward the collaborative imaging program. The candidate will also assist with recruiting cardiac imaging faculty within the Division.
