Division of Cardiology Basic/Translational Research Scientist- #1011039

The Division of Cardiology in the Department of Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine seeks applicants for a faculty position as a Basic/Translational Research Scientist with clinical responsibilities within the Division of Cardiology and St. Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH) based on training/interest.  The successful candidate will have a strong interest in pursuing a path toward becoming (or already being established as) an independent basic/translational research scientist in the field of pediatric cardiovascular disease at a level commensurate with experience.  The candidate’s research program will be supported by the Division of Cardiology, the Department of Pediatrics, and will work closely within the Center for Cardiovascular Research, with additional access to the broad range of world-class discovery research infrastructure and resources available throughout the School of Medicine.  Although this position is designed for a candidate interested in primarily a research-based role, there will be opportunities for clinical roles within the Division of Cardiology based on the candidate’s training, experience, and interests.  Washington University School of Medicine is consistently ranked as one of the best medical schools in the country, and is a longstanding leader in funding for pediatric research. St. Louis Children’s Hospital is a 400 bed free-standing children’s hospital established in 1879. The Division of Cardiology offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services to patients with congenital and pediatric acquired cardiovascular disease throughout the region with national referrals for a number of highly specialized programs.  Faculty in the Division are also a key component of the St. Louis Children’s and Washington University Heart Center which includes an active surgical program, a 16-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, and one of the nation’s largest pediatric heart failure and heart transplantation programs.  See the following link for details on the Division of Pediatric Cardiology: https://pediatriccardiology.wustl.edu/.  Washington University is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty. It welcomes nominations of and applications from women and members of minority groups, as well as others who would bring additional dimensions to the university's research, teaching and clinical missions. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, ethnicity, protected veteran, or disability status. Please visit our website at http://hr.wustl.edu to view a summary of benefits.

Candidates should hold an M.D., Ph.D., or MD/PhD degree and have experience in basic/translational cardiovascular research.  Candidates with an M.D. also interested in having a clinical role within the Division should be board certified/eligible in pediatric cardiology.
