CARDIOLOGY: Director of the BJH Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, Washington University School of Medicine is a national leader in the delivery of high-quality cardiovascular care to a large, diverse patient population, in training the next generation of leaders in cardiovascular medicine, and in conducting research to understand disease mechanisms, develop new therapies, and improve cardiovascular outcomes.

The Division is seeking a mid-career or senior interventional cardiologist at the Associate Professor or Professor level to serve as the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory in the Cardiac Procedure Center (CPC) at Barnes Jewish Hospital. The BJH Cardiac Cath Lab is a high-volume center encompassing the full spectrum of diagnostic, interventional, vascular and structural procedures, whose efficient operations require close collaboration between multidisciplinary physician teams, nurses and advanced practice providers, technicians, hospital administration, and sectional and divisional leadership. Growth of CPC procedures is viewed as an integral part of parallel growth of the inpatient and outpatient cardiology clinical programs as well as clinical research in interventional and structural cardiology.

Candidates working across the spectrum of invasive and interventional cardiology are welcome to apply for the position of Medical Director. The incumbent will lead Cardiac Cath Lab operations dyadically partnering with the nursing administration, foster effective multidisciplinary collaborations to expand procedural efficiency, volume, and high-quality cardiology procedural and clinical care. The candidate will also support programmatic and faculty development in interventional cardiology, help in the supervision and education of cardiology fellows, and ensure regulatory compliance of laboratory environment and operations.

Washington University and St Louis are recognized nationally and internationally for clinical care, and research in medicine, science and biotechnology. St. Louis offers four seasons with outstanding cultural and educational opportunities and is a culturally diverse and family-oriented city.
