Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program Director

The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis  is in search of a faculty member to serve as the Program Director for the Fellowship Training Program. This individual will be responsible for supervising the clinical and research training, developing educational curricula, fostering professional growth, and providing mentorship to infectious disease fellows.

Our fellowship program offers exceptional training in infectious diseases, offering a blend of rigorous clinical experiences and research opportunities in an innovative setting. We provide comprehensive training in specialized tracks within infectious diseases, including HIV medicine, general infectious diseases, mycobacterial diseases, transplant infectious diseases, orthopedic infections, and infection prevention and hospital epidemiology. Many of our second-year fellows choose to extend their training into an optional third year.

Responsibilities for this role include providing patient care within an academic infectious diseases practice, with dedicated time allotted for the fellowship program director duties. This position presents outstanding opportunities for leadership development and professional growth within a leading academic healthcare institution. The faculty rank will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate

Responsibilities include:

• Overseeing all fellowship-related program activities, including recruitment, clinical rotations, fellows' evaluations, and ensuring compliance with GME and ACGME requirements, in collaboration with the Associate Program Director(s).

• Supervising fellows, including their evaluation, advancement, and any required disciplinary measures.

• Strategizing and arranging clinical rotations and outpatient clinic sessions while fostering an environment conducive to fellow learning.

• Organizing and scheduling all weekly didactic conferences within the Division.

• Collaborating with program faculty to develop the research curriculum, facilitating fellows' connections to mentors, projects, and career development opportunities.

Applicants should hold an MD or equivalent degree in medicine, with board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, and should either possess or have the ability to acquire a State of Missouri Medical License. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong dedication to fellow education and mentorship, supported by substantial experience in these domains.

The successful candidate should be eligible for appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine in the Washington University School of Medicine
