Associate Chief of Clinical Operations

POSITION SUMMARY:This individual will work with the Division Chief and Administrator to expand and develop clinical programs with a focus on ensuring outstanding delivery of care with the highest quality patient experience, safety, value and outcomes. The Associate Chief of Clinical Operations, together with the Division Chief and Administrator, will work closely with BJH, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and BJC to enhance the success of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Programs across BJH and BJC.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  • Oversight of inpatient and outpatient clinical services
  • Development and administration of clinical practice policies and procedures
  • Allocation and scheduling of clinical assignments
  • Coordination of services between divisional clinical sections
  • Clinical quality assurance
  • Collaboration with Department of Medicine coding and compliance to ensure adherence to guidelines and appropriate documentation
  • Track and assess clinical productivity
  • Credentialing of clinicians
  • Ongoing and focused professional practice evaluations of clinicians
  • Coordination of clinical services with other divisions and departments
  • Coordination of clinical services and policies with Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis Children’s Hospital and BJC 
  • Development of new clinical initiatives
  • Expansion and growth of Pulmonary and Critical Care services within the Pulmonary and Critical Care service lines of BJC healthcare

Minimum Education/Experience: Current Professor or Associate Professor of Medicine

 Preferred Experience:  3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role.

 Critical Skills and Expertise-Ability to plan, organize direct people, control resources and think creatively. Possess strong interpersonal, communication, organization, management and supervisory skills.
