Chief, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery

The Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) Division in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology are regional leaders in delivering evidence-based services to women with pelvic floor conditions.  With advanced training in the full range of pelvic floor conditions, our faculty offer a superior level of expertise, delivering innovative treatments and personalized care plans to our patients. 

 

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Chief will have overall responsibility for the strategic planning, program development, clinical operations and outreach and will  work closely with the Director of Research and Education for the Division of FPMRS. The Chief will have overall responsibility for growth and expansion of the division in line with the department’s mission, vision and values.  This key leadership role requires an academic physician leader with strong clinical and business/marketing acumen. The successful candidate will have a track record of outstanding patient care, collaborative leadership skills, individual scholarship, program growth/development, educational excellence, and faculty recruitment. They will be well-informed on national trends and best practices in FPMRS and have demonstrated a strong commitment to medical education and dedication to promoting scholarship and research opportunities for students, residents, fellows, and faculty members. The ability to recruit, develop, mentor and manage academic faculty and staff across the clinical, research, and education missions is essential.

 

The qualified candidate will join a team comprised of two faculty members, an advanced practice provider, ACGME fellows, and administrative staff.  The faculty include the Director of Research and Education for FPMRS and the Fellowship Program Director.

 

The primary location of the division is on the Washington University Medical Campus, Barnes-Jewish Hospital with opportunities for expansion. Clinical responsibilities include the outpatient and surgical management of patients with complex pelvic floor disorders. Faculty are highly engaged with a variety of learners through our rigorous fellowship in FPMRS, Ob/Gyn residency training program and medical student education. Academic responsibilities will include participation in these teaching programs. 

Qualified candidates will have completed residency in an ACGME accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology training program and subspecialty training in an accredited Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship program, with board certification in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. The successful candidate should be at the rank of Associate Professor or above and should be an innovative leader with knowledge and experience in navigating complex academic medical institutions, health centers, and/or teaching hospitals coupled with administrative experience.
