Faculty Position - Gynecologic Oncology/Center for Reproductive Health Sciences (CRepHS)

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology and Center for Reproductive Health Sciences invite applications for a full-time, investigator-track faculty position at the level of late-stage Assistant or Associate Professor (or equivalent). Outstanding individuals with a track-record in basic/translational gynecologic cancer research with a focus on ovarian cancer research are encouraged to apply. Physician-scientists are highly encouraged to apply.

Promising mid-career investigators who focus on advancing ovarian cancer research will be considered for the Ovarian Cancer Research Career Development Professorship. This endowment can be used to support salary, benefits, and/or flexible research funding for the holder. 

Application review starts immediately and will continue on a rolling basis. We offer competitive start-up funding, well-designed laboratory space in continuity with two physician-scientist who direct laboratories focused on research in ovarian cancer. The applicant will have access to outstanding core facilities in the Center for Reproductive Health Sciences and biorepositories for basic and translational research opportunities, as well as close collaboration with clinical research opportunities within the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. In addition, the applicant will also have access to outstanding resources at Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM) and at the Siteman Cancer Center, the comprehensive NCI-designated cancer center affiliated with WUSM.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology includes over 50 full-time faculty members organized in the following divisions: General Obstetrics and Gynecology including Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Ultrasound, Family Planning, Basic Research/Center for Reproductive Health Sciences, and Clinical Research. In 2021, the Department was ranked 8th in NIH funding among all obstetrics and gynecology departments at US medical schools as reported by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. For physician-scientists, clinical responsibilities (25% effort) include care for gynecologic oncology patients in the St. Louis metropolitan area. As the largest gynecologic oncology program in the Midwest, the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine has a full continuum of services available to treat women with gynecologic malignancies, including cancer of the cervix, endometrium, fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus, vagina and vulva. Specialists here see almost 650 new gynecologic oncology cases each year and manage more than 10,000 outpatient visits annually. The team is nationally recognized for its expertise in patient care and research. In 2018, a brand new state of the art operating facility opened in coordination with the new academic and clinical office space. Surgeries are performed at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, a major academic hospital, as well as other community hospital in St. Louis.

Prospective candidates should hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree. Applicants will be expected to establish a dynamic, interactive, extramurally-funded research program and share our commitment to education by teaching or supervising post-doctoral, graduate and undergraduate trainees, medical students, residents and clinical fellows. Duties may involve other scholarly activities as assigned by the Department.
