Center for the Study of Itch and Sensory Disorders Research Faculty
The
Center for the Study of Itch and Sensory Disorders (CSISD) at Washington
University School of Medicine (WUSM) in St. Louis is seeking a full-time
physician-scientist, board-certified in Dermatology at the Assistant or
Associate Professor rank whose investigative focus centers on inflammatory skin
diseases and itch. The CSISD, a joint initiative of the Department of
Anesthesiology, Department of Medicine, and Division of Dermatology, is a
world-renowned research center composed of leading neuroscientists,
neuro-immunologists, epithelial biologists, and dermatologists who have
collectively founded the field of itch biology and helped to bring new
therapies to chronic itch disorders. The research team consists of
NIH-funded investigators at the forefront of the neurobiology of itch and
related sensory disorders and highly-qualified staff and trainees. The successful
candidate will become integrated into the university’s larger immunology and
neurobiology scientific community and have access to the shared equipment and
behavioral facilities. The candidate will also Direct the Itch
Clinic that has served patients from approximately 50% of the U.S., has been a
major referral center and a site for industry-sponsored clinical trials. The
clinic has also served as a key population for translational research and
investigator-initiated trials.
Salary and compensation will be
commensurate with experience and expertise. Both WUSM and Barnes-Jewish
Hospital are consistently ranked among the top medical schools and hospitals in
the country by U.S. News & World Report and are housed in an exceptional
biomedical environment composed of the most highly recognized basic scientists,
clinicians, and clinical researchers in the world. A highly competitive
compensation and incentive package will be offered to the successful candidate.
