The England Lab is seeking a smart and motivated candidate to engage in NIH-funded research and manage a broad research portfolio in a laboratory focused on reproduction, and more specifically pregnancy outcomes. Primary duties of this position will include performing bench research and helping develop teaching curriculum in the department. 

  • Prepares and submits research papers with excellent writing skills
  • Designs research experiments and evaluates research findings and reports results
  • Conscientious of his/her research responsibilities
  • Performs research with high ethical standards
  • Follows good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records
  • Assists with development of a teaching curriculum and its implementation
  • Ability to work in diverse environment, respective of multiple cultures as demonstrated by collegial conduct towards other members of the research group and collaborating laboratories including
  • Adherence to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations

  • Doctoral degree (PhD and/or MD) in life sciences
  • At least 5 years of experience in a professional research laboratory after conferral of a doctoral degree in academia, industry, or biotech
  • Postdoctoral training, preferably in a lab with a focus on maternal/child health

  • A record of prior achievement including either research funding/publications, etc.
  • A record of didactic and laboratory teaching
  • Ability to manage their own project and works with a team of investigators
  • Supervisory or mentoring experience
  • Expertise in reproductive biology and/or ion channel biology
  • Proficiency in career skills, including writing, public speaking, networking, and critical evaluation of scientific literature
  • Proficiency in presenting scientific data with excellent oral communication skills
  • Ability to assist with grant preparation and reporting
