Medical Director of Mass Spectrometry and Clinical Toxicology
The Department of Pathology & Immunology, Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Medical Director of Mass Spectrometry and Clinical Toxicology for the Academic Medical Campus. In addition, the medical campus provides testing for other hospitals in the Barnes-Jewish Christian (BJC) HealthCare System. The Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine in the Department of Pathology & Immunology is a fast-paced and dynamic, home to faculty with diverse clinical and research interests, and has a long record of innovation, research, and scholarship
Clinical duties will include medical director oversight of the mass spectrometry and clinical toxicology testing, including menu development, test validation, and quality oversite. Other clinical laboratory responsibilities are likely and are negotiable. The successful applicant will have extensive experience with mass spectrometry and toxicology and will work closely with clinical services including, but not limited to, the Emergency Medicine Toxicology, pain management, transplant and endocrine. The Department of Pathology & Immunology at Washington University is home to a ComACC accredited fellowship program in Clinical Chemistry. Instruction and training of Clinical Chemistry Fellows as well as clinical pathology residents is an important component of this position. Additional responsibilities will include education of Emergency Medicine fellows, pathology residents, medical students, and medical technologists. It is expected that the applicant will maintain a robust clinical translational research program in the area of mass spectrometry.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. and/or M.D. and be board-certified in clinical chemistry and/or clinical toxicology. In addition to mass spectrometry experience, the candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and a collaborative attitude. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
