Director for Post-Professional Education, Education Division

The Program in Occupational Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is seeking applications for an essential leadership role within one of the top ranked occupational therapy programs in the country. The Director for Post-Professional Education is the person responsible for developing, leading, teaching in, and managing a hybrid educational program targeted towards practicing occupational therapists and educators who are seeking to advance their education and obtain certificates of advanced study or an OTD degree.

 

The responsibilities of the Director for Post-Professional Education are grouped into two phases. Phase 1 is the Program Development Phase lasting approximately 12-18 months and Phase 2 is the Program Implementation and Operation Phase, which may overlap with Phase 1. During the Program Development Phase, this person will report jointly to the Associate Dean for the Program in Occupational Therapy and the Director, Division of Professional Education. During the Program Implementation and Operation Phase, the Director for Post-Professional Education will report to the Director, Division of Professional Education.

Time allocations for this position are as follows:

Program Development Phase:

  • Develop a business plan for the PPOTD program in collaboration with Program Director and Director of Business Operations (25%)
  • Develop plan for all resource needs of the PPOTD program (20%)
  • Develop overall framework for operation of the PPOTD program (30%)
  • Develop curriculum and educational plan in consultation with Director of Professional Education (25%)

Program Implementation and Operation Phase:

  • Manage overall program operations (50%)
  • Teach courses in PPOTD curriculum (50%)

 

  • Terminal degree required (e.g. EdD, PhD, post-professional OTD), post-professional OTD is preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time (or equivalent) experience teaching in higher education required, including associated teaching competencies and ability to relate to student learning needs.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in occupational therapy practice. Clinical expertise in any area of occupational therapy practice will be considered.
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Ability to mentor and advise students.
  • Experience delivering curriculum through contemporary instructional technologies, which includes the virtual classroom.
  • Experience using learning management systems to support teaching role.
  • Active involvement and/or leadership in local, state or national professional organizations.
