Assistant Professor: Research Faculty

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek candidates with interests in all aspects of ocular and visual system biology and disease using innovative approaches in basic or translational research. . The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous, independently funded vision science research program. A competitive salary, generous start-up package, and state-of-the-art laboratory space will be provided.

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is a leader in grant funding from the NIH and private foundations. The Department has an extensive track record of support by NEI P30-core and T32-training grants and provides a stimulating intellectual environment that nurtures innovative research directions. Washington University has one of the best graduate and medical schools in the nation, with a rich and diverse research community, and is widely recognized for its interdepartmental collaborative environment. The successful candidate will have access to a large pool of talented students in interdisciplinary Ph.D. programming the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences (DBBS) and the largest M.D./Ph.D. training program in the country.

 

Required qualifications for all candidates:

• Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or M.D. degree

• Relevant postdoctoral experience

• An outstanding record of research accomplishments


Candidates should also possess the following:

• Exciting future basic and/or translational research plans

• Interest in engaging with the scientific community
