BC/BE Academic Epileptologist (MD or MD/PhD)
Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, Department of Neurology is seeking a BC/BE Academic Epileptologist (MD or MD/PhD) (U.S. or any system cognizable as compatible for patient care purpose in the U.S.) for a Clinical Track position in the Adult Epilepsy Section. The clinician will share coverage of inpatient EMU and LTM services, as well as outpatient epilepsy clinical duties and educational duties.
Applicants at the junior and mid-level academic ranks (Assistant and Associate professor) are encouraged to apply. The Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Epilepsy Center is a level 4 regional epilepsy center (National Association of Epilepsy Centers guidelines) serving a diverse patient population in the City of St. Louis and throughout the region. The program includes an active inpatient epilepsy-monitoring unit (EMU), with comprehensive medical and surgical diagnostic and treatment capabilities, an inpatient video EEG monitoring (LTM) with associated ICU EEG monitoring, as well as outpatient clinics and EEG services. Candidates should have 1-2 years of fellowship training in adult epilepsy and/or clinical neurophysiology. The position will involve all aspects of epilepsy care, and candidates with a general interest in epilepsy are encouraged to apply. Additionally, there are opportunities for clinical and research involvement in EEG-related biomarkers and/or neurostimulation, as well as anti-seizure medications. Educational responsibilities will involve the teaching and supervision of EEG technologists, medical students, residents, and fellows in the inpatient and outpatient setting, as well as in didactic teaching sessions. There are also opportunities for clinical research within the Adult Epilepsy Section, and collaborations within the Department of Neurology, the Department of Neurosurgery and the rest of the University.
