Chief, Division of Hematology

he Division Chief, Division of Hematology will be recognized as an accomplished scholar and charged with leading the continued growth and development of the division’s outstanding clinical programs ground-breaking basic, clinical, and translational research and robust fellowship training programs.


The Division Chief will be an outstanding leader in academic hematology with strengths in clinical, research and education domains. The Division Chief will oversee the inpatient and outpatient clinical enterprise, the highly rated and competitive fellowship program, and will expand on the success of the division’s research enterprise. The Division Chief will lead the faculty recruitment and faculty development efforts and provide mentorship to faculty and fellows. The Division Chief has oversight of administrative functions of the division including financial operations and infrastructure and personnel that support the administration of the division.


This important position requires a dynamic and experienced individual who possesses strong scientific, clinical and business acumen. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of individual scholarship, collaborative clinical leadership, program growth and development, educational excellence, and faculty recruitment.

Qualified candidates with an MD, MD/PhD, PhD or equivalent degree should be at or above the Associate Professor rank. The successful candidate will be a visionary and strategic leader in in the field of hematology with knowledge and experience in academic institutions, health centers, and teaching hospitals. Administrative experience such as serving in the capacity of Section/Division Chief, Center Director or similar leadership position with significant budgeting responsibility is desirable.


The Chief will be renowned for clinical excellence and have demonstrated a commitment to medical education and promoting scholarship/research opportunities for students, residents, fellows and faculty members. The ability to recruit, develop, mentor and manage faculty and staff across the clinical, research and education missions is essential.
