Pediatric Cardiology Fetal Echo Attending #1010384

Washington University School of Medicine and The Heart Station at St. Louis Children’s Hospital is recruiting a non-invasive cardiologist for a clinical faculty position in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology, with special interest and expertise in fetal echocardiography.

The ideal candidate will be board eligible/certified in Pediatric Cardiology.  The candidate will have either advanced training or expertise in non-invasive imaging, particularly fetal echocardiography.

Primary responsibilities will include fetal cardiology consultations, development and expansion of fetal cardiology outreach sites, and collaborating with multidisciplinary specialists for fetal evaluations and interventions in the rapidly growing Fetal Care Center, a partnership of Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and St. Louis Children’s Hospital.  We have a widening fetal cardiology referral base with a three-fold increase in fetal echocardiogram volume over the past 5 years, and are seeking a fetal cardiologist to continue to sustain this rate of growth.  Additional responsibilities will include interpretation of other non-invasive imaging (transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography), ambulatory and inpatient cardiology consultations.

Academic appointment will be at the Washington University School of Medicine, consistently ranked as one of the top 10 medical schools in the country.  Numerous resources and opportunities exist for career and leadership development.  Academic responsibilities will include clinical research and/or quality improvement work, and teaching fellows, residents, medical students, and sonographers.

St. Louis Children’s Hospital is a quaternary referral center located in the heart of the vibrant Central West End part of the city, with 397 beds including 125 NICU beds, a recently opened state-of-the-art Women and Infants Tower, and a dedicated cardiac ICU.  The Division of Pediatric Cardiology consists of 27 faculty members in the fields of non-invasive imaging, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, advanced cardiac support and transplant, pulmonary hypertension, and basic science.  St. Louis is an affordable, family-friendly city, rich with history, cultural venues, sports, parks, and entertainment, offering an excellent quality of life.  Salary, appointment, and academic support will be commensurate with qualifications.

The ideal candidate will be board eligible/certified in Pediatric Cardiology.  The candidate will have either advanced training or expertise in non-invasive imaging, particularly fetal echocardiography.
