Subspecialty Pathologist, GI and/or GU Pathology

The Department of Pathology & Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine is recruiting a second faculty Pathologist to join the Division of Anatomic and Molecular Pathology at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Excellence in diagnostic surgical pathology is expected. Board certification in anatomic pathology and eligibility for licensure in the State of Missouri are also required.

In our practice model, faculty at BJWCH sign out cases only in their identified subspecialty areas. Subspecialty training and/or experience in gastrointestinal and/or genitourinary pathology is therefore required, as the clinical workload at BJWCH includes a majority of gastrointestinal and genitourinary pathology cases.  The surgical services at BJWCH are staffed by a mix of both Washington University physicians and private physicians who generate approximately 8,000 surgical pathology cases per year; the subspecialty workload in gastrointestinal and genitourinary pathology is supplemented by cases generated at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

While the pathologist position is based in St. Louis, MO at a location separate from the main Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University School of Medicine campus, the professional practice components will be supported by and integrated into the operations of the Washington University Department of Pathology & Immunology. Thus, the pathologist will interact with, and be supported by, other pathology faculty across the full range of subspecialty areas in both surgical pathology and laboratory medicine.

Individuals completing their fellowship training, and also individuals who are in practice, are encouraged to apply. Salary and academic rank will be based on background and experience. Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae and contact information for three references to:
