Section Head, Neurocritical Care

The Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is seeking to recruit a UCNS-certified neurointensivist to fill the position of Head of the Neurocritical Care Section in the Department of Neurology.  This position will provide resources and opportunities to expand the faculty, which currently consists of four neurointensivists who staff a 20-bed dedicated neurology and neurosurgery ICU (NNICU).  Over the next two years, the NNICU will expand to a 44-bed unit with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and on-site imaging capabilities. The Neuro ICU is linked with a large step down unit and comprehensive inpatient Neurology and Neurosurgery services.  The expansion to a newly-constructed unit will also see the fellowship program grow from 2 fellows per year to 4 -5 fellows/year who will work alongside large resident and nurse practitioner teams.

The Head of Neurocritical Care will be provided with extensive opportunity for leadership in state-of-the-art clinical care, teaching and mentorship. Furthermore, prospective candidates will benefit from Washington University’s extensive research infrastructure as evidenced by our track record of successful clinical and research productivity as well as commitment to faculty development.
