Clinical Pathology and Transfusion Medicine Faculty

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI (USA). The Department of Pathology and Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a full time faculty member with expertise in clinical pathology and transfusion medicine to join the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine.  Clinical duties will include serving as Assistant Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine services at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH) and CLIA/CAP Medical Director and Head of Transfusion Medicine at Barnes West County Hospital (BWCH). Familiarity with histocompatibility laboratory testing and interpretation is desirable as well.

BJH is a 1250 bed tertiary care academic hospital, affiliated with the Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM). The hospital serves a complicated mix of patients, including a large stem cell transplant service(300+/year), solid organ (kidney, liver, lung, heart, pancreas) transplantation service, Level I trauma center, high risk OB (including neonatal workups), and cardiovascular surgery service. The transfusion medicine service includes a blood bank, which transfuses over 90,000 components annually, an apheresis center providing approximately 4,000 therapeutic procedures per year, and a cryopreservation laboratory serving a large Hematopoietic stem cell transplant service.    BWCH, located 14 miles from BJH and the academic medical campus, is a 77 bed community hospital undergoing rapid expansion of WUSM subspecialty medical and surgical in-patient and out-patient services.

The successful applicant will work closely with clinicians in hematology, oncology, bone marrow transplantation, neurology, obstetrics and cardiothoracic and trauma surgery.   In addition, the individual will participate in resident and fellow education and clinical and/or translational research activities.

Candidates must possess a M.D., be board-certified in Clinical Pathology and board certified or eligible in Transfusion Medicine, and eligible for licensure in the State of Missouri.
