Associate or Full Professor Faculty: Radiation Therapy Medical Physics
We seek applications at associate or full professor level from candidates with established academic medical physics careers. The successful candidates are expected to lead their own research as well as participate in other research projects; provide mentorship of junior faculty; actively participate in resident education; and clinical activities. Due to diversity and size of our department, we would be able to accommodate a variety of academic and clinical interests. A generous startup package would be available to enable continuation of academic work and would commensurate with the academic rank and prior accomplishments. All faculty positions have dedicated academic time.
Environment: The medical physics division currently has 26 other faculty for support of our clinical operations, research, and educational activates. The division has over 40 other members consisting of medical physics assistants, QA technicians, residents, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and staff. The Department of Radiation Oncology supports a state-of-the-art clinic located at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Siteman Cancer Center, as well as several clinical affiliates. Clinical resources include numerous linear accelerators, a GammaKnife, very busy brachytherapy services with two HDR remote afterloaders, and a spectrum of imaging devices, including a dedicated MR-simulator with HIFU capability, clinical MR-IGRT program, and proton radiotherapy service. The institution is firmly committed to advancing the field of radiation therapy by actively pursuing novel clinical/research projects and investing in cutting-edge technology. We are in the process of facility construction for the next generation MR-IGRT machine and plans are underway for the second proton radiotherapy machine. The department supports several education programs, including the longest-standing CAMPEP accredited medical physics residency. Research infrastructure and funding are diverse and the research support resources are outstanding. The department offers highly productive collaboration opportunities with our clinical and cancer biology colleagues as well as university-wide collaboration opportunities across various departments in medical and other schools.
The successful candidate must be certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics and have a track record in research, including mentorship of graduate students, post doctorate fellows, medical physics residents, and/or junior faculty.
